Fort Lauderdale

One Florida man. One mission. Cheaper drinks for everybody.

Every legend has an origin story. Ours starts with a group chat, twenty-three thirsty friends, and a plate of wings that cost way too much.

The group chat

In Fort Lauderdale, every friend group has one guy who picks the spot. In ours, that was Daddy. Nobody remembers who started calling him that. Everybody remembers that he always had a plan.

Friday? Daddy knew the rooftop with the $5 frozen drinks. Tuesday? He knew the dive where wells were three bucks until seven. His list started on a bar napkin, moved to his phone's notes, and ended up as a spreadsheet with fourteen tabs, color coding, and a column labeled "vibes (1–10)."

The Great Wing Incident

Then came the night that changed everything. Daddy rallied the whole crew, all twenty-three of them, to a waterfront spot whose website promised half-price wings and $4 drafts until 7.

They arrived at 5:45. The bartender looked at the group, looked at the website on Daddy's phone, and said the words no one should ever hear: "Oh, we stopped doing that in 2019."

They paid full price for 140 wings. Daddy covered the difference out of pride. On the drive home (he wasn't the one driving, obviously), he made a vow: never again would a good person walk into a happy hour that didn't exist.

A Florida man on a mission

Daddy started checking. Every bar's own website. Every menu. Every chalkboard photo on Instagram. He called bartenders to ask what time happy hour really ended. He was politely asked to stop calling exactly one tiki bar about its margarita prices. He did not stop.

Word got around. Friends of friends started texting him from Las Olas, Wilton Manors and Himmarshee asking where to go. The spreadsheet crashed twice. His friends staged an intervention and told him to "just make it a website already."

So he did. That's Daddy's Happy Hour: the list Daddy always wished he had, checked against each place's own menu, with the date we last checked right there on the page. It started with Fort Lauderdale and now covers Florida, one real happy hour at a time.

Some of the story above may be slightly exaggerated. The happy hours aren't.

The real part

For adults 21 and over. Please drink responsibly, and never drink and drive. Daddy would want it that way.
